Breakthrough Jobs is a candidate analysis platform for hiring teams. It collects and analyzes first-party data on every candidate, then puts that analysis in front of recruiters so they can review, assess, and prioritize at volume rather than one resume at a time.

"We knew that our customers were on multiple platforms and we needed a way to scale so we could say we support for example Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby... We also knew that building direct integrations would just be too expensive and time consuming.'
— Greg Zimmerman, Co-founder, Breakthrough Jobs

They onboarded with Merge, but pricing didn't scale with them

Breakthrough Jobs evaluated competitors, including Merge, before onboarding with its first unified API vendor.

"It was just too expensive. And their pricing wasn't super clear, so we wasted a lot of time with them and then we had to shift gears."
— Greg Zimmerman, Co-founder, Breakthrough Jobs

Per-linked-account pricing is the common model in this category. Merge prices per linked account, so every integration each customer connects is a billable unit and cost climbs with each connection. Unified.to prices on usage, metered on monthly API calls with customer connections unlimited, so cost tracks request volume instead of customer count.

Breakthrough Jobs is not the first recruiting product to run into that wall. RecView, an ATS data product for staffing agencies, evaluated Merge at over $30,000 in platform fees before selecting Unified.to.

Why Unified.to is the right integration partner

Breakthrough Jobs evaluated other vendors. Unified.to won on three things:

  1. The pricing model: a fixed cost the team could carry at their stage, metered on API requests rather than on customer count, with customer connections unlimited on every plan.
  2. Coverage and support: ATS integration coverage was extensive at 110 ATS integrations, and the Unified.to team stayed responsive through onboarding and implementation.
  3. Security: The team frames the security posture as peace of mind: candidate records are third-party PII leaving a customer's system of record, and Unified.to's architecture keeps that data from being stored at rest.

"I don't want to touch how I'm bringing in customer information or connecting systems if I'm not confident I can do it in a secure way."
— Greg Zimmerman, Co-founder, Breakthrough Jobs

The result was speed to market

"It allowed us to go to market faster and acquire our first customers. It really accelerated our ability to integrate, to test, and to get feedback faster, and to make improvements in the product that would help us bring it to market more confidently."
— Greg Zimmerman, Co-founder, Breakthrough Jobs

That coverage shows up in Breakthrough Jobs' own customer results. Candid, a dental technology company scaling its recruiting operation, connected Breakthrough Jobs to its Greenhouse instance for high-volume candidate analysis. Candid reports 90% time savings on resume reviews across more than 2,000 resumes analyzed.

Breakthrough Jobs is expanding from candidate analysis into sourcing, running the process end to end: find the best candidates, then analyze them alongside inbound applicants. Unified.to's ATS API reads and writes on the same connection, so sourcing runs on the integration Breakthrough Jobs already built.

That was the point of the switch: an integration partner that fits not only the company they're building today, but the one they're becoming.
