# How to setup a TikTok Shop application
------
_August 11, 2026_

TikTok Shop uses different terminology than the standard OAuth2. There's no menu item labeled '[OAuth](/embeddedauth)' — the OAuth 2.0 client _is_ the 'app,' and the credentials are labeled App Key / App Secret rather than Client ID / Client Secret.

Here's the mapping and the exact path:

- **App Key** = your OAuth2 Client ID
- **App Secret** = your OAuth2 Client Secret
- (You'll also see a **Service ID** on the same page — TikTok-specific, not part of standard OAuth)

Steps in Partner Center:

1. Log in and make sure you're registered as an app developer (not just a seller account). If you skipped developer onboarding, the App & Service section won't behave as expected.
2. In the left navigation, select App & Service, then click Create app & service in the top-right corner.
3. Choose the app type. A Public app is for applications you plan to publish on the TikTok Shop App Store; a Custom app is for your own store or direct distribution to specific sellers. Both use the same OAuth 2.0 authentication and have the same level of API access. For a unified-API connector like yours, Public is the usual choice (you can convert a Custom app later if needed).
4. Fill in name, category, target market, and set your **Redirect URL** to your callback endpoint. Enable API access.
5. After creating, you land on the app detail page. Copy the App key (client ID), the App secret (client secret), and the ID / service ID shown below the app name.
6. Separately, apply for the API permissions/scopes you need under Manage API — these are granted per-app and gate what data you can pull.

One important gotcha for you: region is split. The main Partner Center is partner.tiktokshop.com, but the US region has a separate center at partner.us.tiktokshop.com. Credentials aren't shared across them, so if your sellers span US and non-US, you may need an app in each.
